Coral Tubes With Layered Nacreous Crystals
These structures are calcified remains of ancient coral polyps, with the concentric layered walls of each tube formed from successive mineral deposits over time. The nacreous crystal growths that cover the outer junctions between tubes are secondary mineral accretions deposited as the coral skeleton became fossilized.
