Tidal Pools Scattered On Dark Volcanic Coast
The circular pools are carved into hardened coastal lava flows by millions of years of constant wave erosion. Many of the shallow pools collect tidal or rain water, and some have small green algae deposits on their rock floors. The thin sunbeam visible through the cloud cover indicates a brief break in the ongoing coastal storm.
